Description: Paul Jaboulet Aîné's Hermitage La Chapelle is one of the great classics of the Northern Rhône. Named after the small chapel that towers over the Hermitage vineyards, it embodies the essence of this unique site.
The Jaboulet house looks back on a long tradition and has always worked with a clear philosophy: to bring the authentic characteristics of the vineyards into the glass. La Chapelle is their flagship wine, characterized by the steep, barren slopes surrounding the Saint-Christophe Chapel, where the vines have deep roots in the granite-rich soils.
The 1997 vintage is considered one of the most underrated Hermitage vintages. It impressively demonstrates that La Chapelle not only excels in its famous peak years, but also demonstrates tremendous elegance and consistency in less hyped vintages. With its remarkable aging potential , this wine has long since proven its class and is a fascinating companion for collectors and discoverers of great Rhône wines.
Mineral-based aroma: wild strawberry and balsamic herbs, truffle, floral. Elegant palate, mineral impact without heaviness, sinewy, a granite fist in a velvet glove, transparent and clear in structure. A tannin of almost incorporeal substance, yet rich, without astringency. Nearing peak ripeness.
