Description: Château de Sales, the largest contiguous vineyard in the Pomerol appellation, has been owned by the same family since the 15th century – a rare example of true continuity. The sandy-gravelly soils impart an elegant, subtly spicy style, dominated by Merlot. The 1985 vintage displays beautiful maturity: aromas of dried red fruit, undergrowth, tobacco, and gentle spice combine with soft, rounded tannins. A classic, harmoniously mature Pomerol, highly enjoyable.
